Konnichiwa! The Japanese classroom has been alive with language attempts and confidence.

Grade 2:

Students are using a lot of spoken Japanese in the classroom. Counting to 10. Writing the characters for numbers 1-10.  Introducing ourselves using appropriate pronouns. Sugoi jouzu desu! (So clever)

The characters from 1-10 are:

一ニ三四五六七八九十

Grades 3 and 4:

Students are well under way in creating a song to help memorise some nouns and phrases for classroom Japanese, including stationery items amd the words for this and that (‘kore’ and ‘sore’). Creating a catchy tune to recall phrases is a useful learning tool, and lots of fun!

Grades 5 and 6:

Students are in the beginning phase of research for their Japanese City projects. They have chosen a city to research and are exploring 7 places to visit in that city. They will then use verbs to form sentences in Japanese about what they will do whilst in Japan.

Here are some Grade 5 and 6 students writing the kanji characters for the days of the week, to use in their projects.

Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
