If the measure of a boarding house’s success is the involvement of its boarders in the wider life of the College, then our Cebula residential community is certainly doing remarkably well. There is no doubt that engaging in a wide range of school activities enriches the boy’s educational experience and helps them develop a broad set of skills and qualities that are essential for personal growth and success in the future. It is also helping them to become more well-rounded, confident and capable young men.
In recent weeks, in addition to participating in the finals of their winter sport commitments, the boys have been active in many additional College activities, including the Astronomy Night, helping at the Kalamunda Garden Festival, being part of the grand final winning soccer team in the SSWA Competition, performing in the Catholic School Performing Arts Festival and the College’s Best of the Fest evening. There’s still more to come with hockey finals this weekend, boys away at the 2024 leadership camp, others playing in Saturday’s football grand final, and our Year 9s getting ready to work on RU Ok Week events. It has been very encouraging to see this level of active involvement and participation and I congratulate all the boys who have given of their time and efforts to be a part of the many opportunities on offer here at the College.
Next week we will begin a series of farewells for our Year 12 boarders who are quickly approaching the end of their time with us. The celebrations will continue into Term 4 when we will join with their parents to celebrate their Valedictory.
