Principals' Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 8. It is hard to believe that there are just three more weeks of school before the end of term holiday break! Next Tuesday, the Transition Program begins for the 2024 Kindergarten class. We look forward to welcoming our new students and their families to St Joseph's as they prepare for their official start to 'big school' next year.

Grandparents Day & Book Week Parade

Thank you to all of the wonderful Grandparents who attended our Book Week Parade on Friday the 25th August. What an absolute cracker of a day that we were blessed with to celebrate and acknowledge the significant gift that grandparents play in our lives. The warm sunshine provided the perfect opportunity for a shared morning tea for the many families in attendance and time to browse through the Book Fair display organised by Mrs Holley. Our students and staff looked fantastic in their costumes as they got into the spirit of this year's theme, 'Read, Grow, Inspire.' It was energising and exciting for all to have our school community celebrating together!

Learning Together

Today the staff have had the opportunity to take part in a professional development day at St Joseph's Primary School, Tenterfield. The aim of today is is to revisit and refine our co-teaching framework here at St Joseph's as we continually look to enhance the learning and teaching practices at our school.

Our Stage 1 teachers are currently working with Mrs Trish Mitchell (Subject Matter Expert - Mathematics) from the Catholic Schools Office on a pilot assessment project that tracks number knowledge and skills of students. This assessment has many benefits, including helping teachers to check progress of their students and to plan learning sprints for those children who may not yet be attaining the expected level of development.

Happy Father's Day

Wow...what an amazing turn out by our school community! A massive thank you to all of our amazing father's, grandfather's and family members who attended our Father's Day Breakfast last Friday. Father's Day is a celebration of fatherhood; a time for us to honour, celebrate and to be thankful for all of the men, father figures and male role models in our lives. We recognise the very important role you have in the lives of children, so thank you to all of the dads and father figures in our school community. We hope you all enjoyed a very happy Father's Day yesterday and were able to celebrate with the special people in your lives.

Thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends Association for their assistance with our Father's Day BBQ and for coordinating the Father's Day Stall. It was delightful to see the enthusiasm, satisfaction and joy on the faces of our students after deciding on a gift to show their appreciation for the fabulous male role models in their lives.

We always love the opportunity to invite parents and carers into our school  community and appreciate your support and involvement in your child's educational journey.

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

Last week, we enjoyed a special morning tea to celebrate Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week and say a big thank you to our wonderful Education Assistants; Mrs Kim Wadwell, Miss Mel Honnery, Mrs Sumudu De Silva, Mrs Amy Lobban, Miss Taylor Bruce and Miss Kim Taggart. We are extremely blessed at St Joseph's to have such an amazing team of dedicated adults working in our learning spaces each day.
