Principal's Report

Dear Families & Carers,

This week we are celebrating all things books here at Our Lady's Primary School for Book Week. On Monday, our Grade 3/4 class kicked off our celebration with a lovely remake of the 'I gotta feeling' from the Black Eyed Peas into a song all about reading. During their Assembly, the students also shared multiple facts about reading.

Throughout the week, our Book Fair will be set up ready for purchases before school 8.30am - 8.55am and each afternoon from 2.45pm - 3.15pm. If you would like to come in and view the shop, please sign in at the office. We will direct you to our Book Fair from there. The Book Fair will be supported by our wonderful parent volunteers.

If you are wishing to volunteer at the school, you do require a current Working with Children Check as well as complete a volunteer application form and complete our induction process. We do this because our top priority is keeping our children safe within our environment. If you do wish to volunteer at any point in the future, our new process will be required. Pop into the office and ask for your paperwork - the process is simple and it just helps us ensure we have the best possible volunteers working with our most valuable resource, our students.

BOOK WEEK PARADE

Our children (and some staff) are secretly looking forward to the most amazing day of the year....our BOOK WEEK PARADE. Our Parade will take place in the Hall on Friday the 25th of August at 9am. All families are welcome - please sign in at the office on the way in to school.

During our Assembly on Monday we celebrated our 'Student of the Week' for each classroom. Congratulations to the following students:

Foundation: Jasem

Grade 1/2NH: Maeve

Grade 1/2BH: Alexia

Grade 3/4WY: Kristopher

Grade 4/5G: Bonnie

Grade 5/6G: Leo

Congratulations to Lillie (Grade 5/6) for taking out the Class DoJo raffle at Assembly also. It is great to see so many families now on the Class DoJo app. If you haven't made your way there yet, now is the time to check it out.

The weather is now becoming sunnier which is a great reminder that hats are now beginning to be required. As a Sun Smart school, hats are not just required in Term 1 & Term 4. Any day when the UV rays reach above a certain level, hats are necessary. Over the next few weeks we will remind students that hats are now required on some days and at some break times. The Sun Smart website has all the information you need to know to protect your skin.

Existing families please note - if you have a child starting Foundation in 2024 please submit your paperwork to us as soon as you can. If you don't have any forms yet, please give us a call and we will organise them for you.

FATHER'S DAY

Please save the date for our Father's Day Afternoon Tea to be held on Monday the 4th of September at 2.30pm. We would love to see you all there!

Blessings,
