Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant

We’re thrilled to announce that we have received a 2023 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant for our project, our frog pond revamp, including signage.

Newham Primary School is one of 1,107 primary schools and early learning centres across Australia to receive a Woolworths Junior Landcare grant to help grow our next generation of environmental champions. 

The children and teachers are looking forward to getting their hands dirty and learning from this project – we’ll keep you updated!

Planting Day - Family and Carer volunteers needed: Tuesday 12 September 

We have 355 tube stock to plant! The site along our waterway from where the willows were removed, is almost ready to plant out, having had weed management and jute mat rolled out for our grasses and sedges. 

If you would like to come and help with site preparation from 11:40am, we will have tools to make holes for the plants.

If you would like to participate in the planting afternoon, you will need a Working With Children Check. Planting starting at 1:00pm.

River Detectives First Water Sampling Session

I personally liked the River Detectives. We went to get water from the dam outside next to the carpark. After, we tested the water temperature, we checked the pH, reactive phosphorus and electrical conductivity. We noted the rainfall and the name of the waterway.
