Notices/Reminders

From the School Office and School Council

Swimming begins next week for the 2/3/4s.

Can parents please ensure that students are properly equipped and

have everything named prior to next week.

Swimming caps are required.

They are available from the pool for purchase (the basic cheap style is $6 - exact money is helpful). If you already have your own, please use that.

Goggles are optional.

If goggles are a necessity for your child, ideally purchase them prior to swimming week. The pool does not have a wide variety,  and they can be expensive.

Please do not have students bringing large amounts of money to swimming for goggles.  If you must purchase goggles from the pool, consider phoning ahead and leaving the paid items for your child to pick up (let us know if you do this).

We are on a tight schedule for swimming and in general, there will not be time for showers. If your child has a chlorine allergy, this should have been in the medical information provided so that we are able to cater for this emergency.

Parents are welcome to come along to the pool to help with students getting ready and to watch.

Please contact the office or your child's teacher if you have any questions.

Lunch orders will not be available for the 2/3/4 students on Friday 8th September

Newham Beanies for Sale

As part of our dress for the weather campaign, Newham Primary School has ordered 100 Newham beanies to keep little and big heads warm. The beanies are now available to purchase from the office for $17 each. Payment via card preferred but we can take cash!

The aim is to cover costs and make a small profit to enable the school to install some kind of sustainable (long-lasting), animal-safe netting for our soccer goals.

We will even have enough beanies to sell to the community. Although Winter may be over, there is still likely to be many chilly mornings and nights!

Unwell students, please inform the office

Can parents please inform the office if their child is currently taking medication that is not the regular circumstance, or if their child has been unwell (but doesn't require exclusion). We have had students presenting to the office for support, where a phone call/message from home would have flagged the need to be aware of what may lay ahead.

2023 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey:

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets, or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.Last year we used the survey results to plan School Wide Positive Behaviour sessions, Professional development for staff as well as tailored curriculum programs and tutoring.

Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.

The PIN number required for family access to the survey was sent home

via uEducateus.
