Future Focused Learning

What an incredibly busy term we have had! Students and staff have been working hard during Inquiry learning, investigating curriculum areas such as Earth and Space, Physical, Biological and Chemical Science, Geography and History.

Each class showcased their learning during our production - Great Southern Land. Students demonstrated knowledge of the scientific process, living and non-living things, cultural identity and Earth and space through various songs, dances, costumes and prop designs.

A personal highlight has been how each student has been involved in the process of creating lyrics, learning songs and constructing costumes and props that reflected what they have learnt over the term. Students were able to discuss each element of their production item directly linking this to their learning.

Last week Simon McGlade, Kylie Kennedy and I had the opportunity to visit Evelyn Scott School in Canberra where we observed classrooms in action and met with educational consultant, Lee Crockett and other school leaders to learn more about Future Focused Learning. Mackellar also had the pleasure of hosting Lee for a day where he visited classrooms to see the incredible work teachers and students are doing within the school. We are looking forward to implementing many new ideas over the coming months.
