MacKillop Swimming
We had 8 of our swimmers who have made the SCS swimming team. Oscar, Lachlan, Zachary, Sam, Ethan, Dennis, Hudson and James had a quick turn around between the Sydney and MacKillop Trials. We are so glad many of our swimmers got to experience this event. We look forward to what swimming results we witness next year with this talented group.
MacKillop Tennis
Good luck to Petar for the NSWPSSA Tennis tournament as a member of the MacKillop Team. This event will be held in Newcastle during May.
Sydney Football (Soccer)
Rebecca W participated in the Sydney Soccer Trials in Macquarie park on Monday. We hope this trial was a positive experience which helped you grow as a player.
Sydney Rugby League
Harlem, Zachary and Jye have had a very busy week with the Rugby League trials postponed from last week to this week. These boys have had Athletics Carnival on Monday, Interschool Sport on Tuesday and their Rugby League Trials on Wednesday. What a way to finish the term.
Cross Country
The Sydney Cross Country Championships are on 14th May at Sydney Motor Sports Park. We have 32 students who will represent our school at this trial. Final details will be shared with all participants early next term. If you had received a note and can no longer attend this event, please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au so you can be pulled out of this event.
Great Whites Legends Rugby League Gala Day - Years 3-6
Our school is participated in the Rugby League Great Whites Legends Gala Day hosted by NRL on Wednesday 3rd April. 7 schools, 40 teams with 350 students. It was a bonus to have a few NRL players show their faces on the day, to take photos and chat all things footy. Thank you to Mrs Kate Miller, Miss Devlin, Mrs Pieratos, Miss Sutherland, Mrs Ellen Miller, Mrs Sleishman, Miss Norris and Mrs Pederson along with our parent helpers for assisting teams throughout the day.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
We were blessed with lovely weather for our 2024 annual Athletics Carnival. It was a fun, school and community event but also a day for our students to showcase their talent out on the track and field.
A big thank you to our parent helpers for assisting our teachers and officials at stations. Your help is greatly appreciated. It was lovely to see many parent spectators to support our children in all events. Our students displayed great sportsmanship and everyone had the opportunity to be involved in this day.
Another special mention to our 2024 Sport Captains for leading your houses throughout the day. What great leadership and role models you are for all students. Your involvement, dedication and willingness to always offer a helping hand makes all the difference.
Finally the great staff at St Pat's work over and beyond to ensure our students have a great day. Our teachers danced, cheered, raced and trouble-shot throughout the day. Technology wasn’t on our side throughout the day but our team under pressure ensured all events were raced and times recorded.
Below are the overall results from the timed and measured events. Our 1st place winners, if meeting the qualifying measured/timed, will progress to the Conference Carnival and in some track events, our top 2 progress. Students who have progressed to the Conference Trial on Monday 12th August 2024 will receive notes next term.

INTERSCHOOL SPORT
Stage 3 Netball Gala Day
Our students across Stage 3 participated in the Interschool Netball and Unified All Abilities European Handball Gala Day on Tuesday. Students were selected to form part of our level 1 or 2 team plus Unified All Abilities European Handball Team. This is the only interschool sporting gala day that wasn’t compulsory for all Stage 3 students.
Students and teachers had a great time out on the court. The day allowed some of our students to practice a sport that was not familiar to them and for others to enjoy the sport they love. Well done to all students for working as a team and displaying great sportsmanship out on the court.
Year 3 Football Gala Day
Sydney FC hosted the Year 3 Football Gala Day at Seymour Shaw, Miranda on Wednesday. All of year 3 were involved in this event. Interschool sport provides a unique opportunity to build on students' self management skills and interpersonal skills which are all outcomes of the PDHPE syllabus. Students are able to participate in a fun and social sporting environment among their peers while practicing skills, working as a team and learning specific rules.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL
Flag Football is an Olympic Sport in 2028 and the NFL is putting a lot of resources Worldwide for the promotion of the sport. Our school will be involved in this program which at this point will be targeted at our current year 4, year 5 and year 6 students. Miss Devlin will complete an online course to implement a 6 week program through the PE Syllabus. NFL will also be sending us brand new footballs and 30 flag belts to kickstart this new sport at our school. After the 6 week program our school will look into entering the NSW State Tournament in which the winning team receive a funded trip to Brisbane to compete at the National Cup. The winning primary school of the national cup will continue to receive a funded trip to the Pro Bowl in the US.
