Principal's Report
Dear HPS Community,
Welcome back to our Year 6 campers! I have already heard many stories from weary students and staff. By all accounts it was a fabulous time and HPS was well represented. Huge thank you to staff and parent volunteers for giving your time and energy to ensuring the camp could take place with such success. It is a huge effort to give up family time, work and other commitments to go away for 4 days, and for that we are ever so grateful. Thanks again, and we hope you all enjoy a well deserved break on the weekend!
Year 3 camp is the next one, which is to be held week 1 of Term 2. Information packs will be sent to families next week so that students and their families can become acquainted with what to expect for Mount Evelyn Camp.
NAPLAN
Our Year 3 and 5 cohorts have completed 2 of the 4 assessments this week with the remaining 2 to occur next week. We are very proud of the resilience and effort students are putting in to doing their best and giving it a good go! The technology has been behaving itself too which has been extra helpful :-)
Planning Week
Next week, the specialist timetable has been changed around to accomodate a full day for each of our teaching teams to plan and prepare the learning programs for Term 2. This means that your child/ren will have Art, PE, Science, Japanese and library on the one day while the classroom teachers work collaboratively on planning.
Monday - Year 4 & 6
Wednesday - Year 3 & 5
Thursday - Year 1 & 2
Friday - Foundation
Harmony Day
Next week is Harmony Week, the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, from the Traditional Owners of the land to our most recent arrivals.
We will be celebrating Harmony Day on Friday, March 22nd. Staff and students are encouraged to wear something orange to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. We also have the incursion ‘Bollywood Rhythms’ on that day. Consent and payment is due by next Tuesday. We look forward to a great celebration of our community diversity.

Each year schools are required to share their annual report to their community. HPS community are invited to meet in the staffroom at 7pm on Tuesday 26th March for the presentation of our 2023 annual report. No rsvp required, just turn up.
