Reading
CURRICULUM FOCUS
This week in Reading we are looking at repeating patterns within a text.
VOCABULARY
Repeated pattern: the same line of text that is shown on most or every page in a text.
E.g.
The cat is sitting.
The cat is running.
The cat is jumping.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Using a take home dot book from your child’s blue satchel have your child read the first page. When moving onto the next page cross check with the first page to see whether or not the beginning few words are the same on both pages.
Prompt your child to use the same pattern to assist them in reading the next page and the rest of the book.
As your child reads you may like to ask them if they can see the same pattern or not.
See example below:
I like to run.
I like to draw.
I like to swim.
I like to dance.
