Health and Physical Activity

Michael Gallus

We have had a wonderful start for the year in sport across our Primary and Secondary students! We cannot believe that all these events happened during Term 1.

In this new school year, 2024, we have seen new sporting events and activities made available for our students.  These include:

  • the addition of the Primary School into the local SSV (Sporting Schools Victoria) network, which includes termly interschool sporting gala days
  • new Christway College sporting representative jerseys
  • the appointment of sporting house and vice captains
  • an influx of new sporting equipment
  • the whole school cross country house sport event with Year 3-9 students completing their runoff site at President’s Park
  • before school sport training sessions, specialised basketball, rugby league and cricket coaching clinics; and
  • lunch time sporting house competitions

Our students had the opportunity to meet the AFL North Melbourne Captain Luke McDonald and other team members, when they visited the College in February.

As we are part of the community, we are excited with the new Secondary school sporting partnership with Heathdale Christian College (Werribee and Melton) and Melton Christian College.

It has been very inspiring to see our students thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to have fun and be active with their friends throughout the term, across all the sporting activities and events.

Many thanks to all parents for their support to our College sporting activities and events (i.e. dropping their children off extra early for before school sports training). A huge thank you to our fantastic Christway College PE teachers Miss Hutton, Miss Walsh and Mr Silva for all their hard work, this combined with the dedicated PE administration team of Mrs McFarlane and Miss Gardiola to ensure a smooth transition to all these new sporting initiatives. With great appreciation to Executive Principal Mr Higgins and Head of Campus Ms Neophytou who have supported the PE department.

We cannot wait to see what happens with S port in Term 2.
