Some words from the Principal
Mrs Danielle Heatley
We are 2 weeks into Term 2 and it already has been so jam packed. Colour Run, Cross Country, Turf opening, Pupil free days, Student leadership programs, Politician meet and greets...and that's not even mentioning all the classroom learning and activities.
Wow, what a fabulous night we had!! It is always so much much fun for everyone - along with raising a sensational amount for our school! Thankyou to everyone who came along on the night or have raised funds for our school!
Last week I was so privileged to be invited to participate in a round table discussion with the Federal Education Minister, Jason Clare. It was hosted by Mary Doyle (Aston MP) and I was joined by a few other Principals in the Knox region. During the round table discussion, we had the invaluable opportunity to share insights, perspectives, and suggestions directly with the Education Minister.
Only a few days later, we welcomed Mary Doyle (Aston MP) to Karoo. Accompanied by our diligent school captains, Mary Doyle and I embarked on a tour of our school, witnessing firsthand our positive culture and she saw engaged learning taking place within our classrooms. As a token of appreciation for our warm hospitality, Mary Doyle presented us with a set of flags - Australian, Aboriginal and TSI. These flags will be hung in our fleshly painted gym permanently, ready for assemblies.
We are looking forward to celebrating Education Week with an open afternoon in the classrooms on Wednesday 15th May @ 3pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to come into the classrooms and see your children's learning. That evening we will be holding our Term 2 PEPS night - Raising children in a Digital World. There are sure to be some incredibly important messages for families. Mr Horne sent out more details this week on Compass.

On Tuesday 26th March our School Council for 2024 met for the first time this year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank our 2023 President, Tony Khouri who has made the decision to step into the Vice President role due to work commitments. Tony has made a pivotal impact on Karoo in his role as President and is a positive driving force supporting our wonderful school. I am incredibly grateful to have worked alongside Tony in 2023 and look forward to another year with him in the Vice President role.
I am pleased to announce that Council nominated and voted in members for the four office bearer positions as listed below:
President: Serryn Bryant
Vice President: Tony Khouri
Treasurer: John Savinos
Secretary: David Latham
Congratulations to Serryn, our new President, as she steps into this important role. We look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly bring to our school in the coming year.
We were so thrilled to officially open the long-awaited turf project on Tuesday. We held a ribbon cutting ceremony with all of our the students. Please see video below to share this special moment! This huge achievement has been the result of years of dedication, hard work, and the support of our school community.
On behalf of the entire school council (over a number of years) we say thankyou to each and every one of you who has played a part in making this project a success. Your support and commitment have made a lasting impact on the experiences of our current and future students. We look forward to seeing our students and community enjoy the turf for years to come!!
