Year 7 Study Skills Evening with Dr Prue Salter
Earlier in the term, we again welcomed Dr. Prue Salter to Kambala for our annual Year 7 Study Skills Evening. Dr. Salter is an expert in time management, study skills and self-regulation. The evening proved to be a valuable opportunity for families to explore evidence-based strategies for optimising study habits and maximising academic potential.
We encourage parents and carers to review the session’s resources with their daughters, as the beginning of high school is an important time to discuss how to set up an effective home study environment and plan for upcoming learning tasks.
I would like to thank the Year 7 families who were able to attend the evening, and Dr. Salter for sharing her expertise in an interactive format. Families who were unable to attend can access the suite of online resources from the evening through the Year 7 Cohort page.

2024 New South Wales Future Problem Solving Coach Training Day
Recently Kambala hosted the 2024 New South Wales Future Problem Solving Coach Training Day. The event was facilitated by Future Problem Solving Australia and was attended by former Kambala students from the cohort of 2023 (Eli Alfassi (IB), Amelie Piggot (IB), Antonia Lennox (HSC) and Ella Macarounas (HSC), as well as Priya Bahra (IB) from the cohort of 2020. Additionally, current Year 12 students Sasha Laragy and Grace Zhang, who have had a long and successful FPS journey also participated during their study periods. Additionally, 35 teachers from 19 NSW schools attended the day and intend to implement the program at their schools.

Music Community Outreach Program
Kambala’s extensive music program offers opportunities for student participation in a variety of groups including chamber ensembles, class instrumental items and string quartets. To acknowledge the dedication of students to these ensembles, refine skills required for the HSC/IB music performance assessments, and contribute to Kambala’s local community, we wished to showcase our school’s talent through the provision of greater performance opportunities.
As the inaugural community outreach event, Kambala’s Flute Trio and Senior String Quartet performed at the opening of Woollahra Council’s Festival of Fun New Experiences at the Council Chambers on the 5th of March.
Performing first were the Kambala Flute Trio, a group within the student-directed Extension Chamber Music Program, consisting of the students Chloe Carman, Eloise Hoskins and Grace Yang. Following this performance were Kambala’s Senior String Quartet, including students Marie Hori, Annabel Rowney, Lillian Pack and Grace Yang, directed by Mr Ingwersen.
We commend all of the students on delivering professional and musical performances, entertaining our local senior citizens and exemplifying Kambala’s fantastic music program. A special thanks extends to Ms Grace, who volunteered her time as a teacher supervisor for the event, providing invaluable help in set-up and transport. Thank you also to Ms Sarmiento for assisting with the organisation and logistics of the event, as well as to Mr Karamanos for IT support. Finally, thank you to Woollahra Council for this exciting opportunity.
We hope to see the program continue to develop over the coming years.

Paideia at the Sydney Opera House
Paideia recently had the privilege of attending two events at the Sydney Opera House, where members were immersed in thought-provoking discussions and entertaining performances.
The first event, "RBG: Of Many, Of One," saw a remarkable turnout with 55 Paideia members in attendance. They watched Heather Mitchell's stellar portrayal of the indomitable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a trailblazer in the American judiciary and a fierce advocate for gender equality and reproductive rights.
Following this powerful performance, Paideia members participated in "All About Women," the Sydney Opera House’s centrepiece talks festival about gender, justice, and equality. In particular, students were entertained by a “Feminist Roast”, which saw a range of influential and entertaining women, including Jane Caro, Zoë Coombs-Marr, Jan Fran, Michelle Law, and Nakkiah Lui celebrate feminism in all its complexities. Through wit and insight, panellists tackled stereotypes and "roasted" feminism as a movement, all while celebrating its triumphs and ongoing evolution.
Paideia's participation in these events underscores its commitment to fostering critical thinking and engaging with contemporary issues. By attending these enriching discussions and performances, members deepened their understanding of gender, representation, and social justice.
Stay connected with Student News, search “Paideia” on Sundial, or email Ms Himmi Cheruvu to find out more about upcoming enriching opportunities.

The Women's College Formal Dinner 2024
On Monday the 11th of March, The Women’s College at the University of Sydney held a dinner for prospective students. The Formal Dinner program on Monday evenings is conducted throughout each semester at the Women’s College and is a time where the whole College comes together. Students from Years 11 & 12 had a tour of the college facilities by current students (including some Kambala Alumnae) and then heard a guest speaker from Concord Hospital.
