Deputy Premier and Education Minister's Visit

Friday in week 3 we were honoured to have the Deputy Premier of NSW, MP Prue Car visit and tour our school. Ms Car, who is also the Education Minister was met by our School Captains and primary leaders who invited her to the cafe to place her order with the Barista Team.

Once the Minister had her coffee we started the tour of the school, visiting the gym where class 6 were engaged in a lesson using the MultiBall wall. From here we went on to the Skills House where stage 6 where shopping in Mini-Woolies and class 16 were practising functional living skills.

From here we visited primary and stage 4 classrooms, where the Minister was able to see the work of students and chat with them about school and their learning.

To finish her visit, we then took the Deputy Principal across to the Campus and farm site so that she could meet more students and see where our agricultural classes take place.

During the Minister's visit, I was able to raise several issues with her and talk about the challenges that our school faces about staffing, funding and the lack of learning environments, such as science labs and a library which are standard in mainstream schools.

I believe the Minister enjoyed her visit and was impressed with our specialist setting and the programs we deliver to our students.
