Book Week – Book An Adventure
Another Book Week is nearly over, culminating in our F-6 Book Character Parade this morning. What a huge effort our students, parents and teachers have once again made! It was such a fun and exciting parade and we are always amazed at the creativity and imagination that goes into the costumes. Well done to the senior students who also dressed up and got into the spirit of the day. We have had lunchtime activities all week in the library and have several competitions running, with winners being announced soon. We hope that everyone has enjoyed Book Week and maybe even found a new favourite book!
Children’s Book Of The Year Awards
The Children's Book Council announced the winners of the best Children’s Books for 2025 last Friday with the winners as follows:
Older Readers: I’m Not Really Here by Gary Lonesborough
Younger Readers: Laughter Is The Best Ending by Maryam Master
Early Childhood: The Wobbly Bike by Darryn McCallum
Picture Book: The Truck Cat by Danny Snell
Eve Pownall (Information Book): Always Was Always Will Be by Aunty Faye Muir and Sue Lawson
New Illustrator: Grow Big Little Seed by Sarah Capon
Student Voting
During library lessons our primary students had the opportunity to vote for what they thought was the best book and they also chose The Truck Cat, but their votes for the other categories were very different from the official results.
Once again thank you everyone for your participation as we celebrate all things Books!
Scholastic Book Club
A reminder that the second Scholastic Book Club flier for Term 3 has gone home this week (Issue 6) with orders due back by the 29th August.
Thank you to the families who support us by purchasing books. Don’t forget every book you order earns us points to buy new resources for our College Library.
