From the Principal

“I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together
we can do great things.” - Mother Teresa
Dear Parents, Carers and Members of the St Augustine’s College Community,
It has been another rich and rewarding few weeks in the life of our College, with so many opportunities for our students, staff and families to connect, learn and celebrate together.
It Takes a Village – Raising Kids in a Digital World
Next month, our community has the opportunity to attend an important event: It Takes a Village – Raising Kids in a Digital World. This evening will feature keynote speaker Dr Justin Coulson, along with an expert panel, discussing digital wellbeing, youth mental health and the impact of social media and smartphones on children and teens.
The event will take place on Wednesday 10th September from 7–9pm at the Moama Bowling Club. Tickets are $15 and can be booked via the QR code on the attached flyer. I encourage families/parents to consider attending as this evening promises to be both insightful and practical.
Diocesan Spirituality Day
Last Wednesday, all staff from across the Sandhurst Diocese gathered for our annual Spirituality Day. This is a Diocesan-wide initiative that allows us to pause, reflect and be nourished spiritually as Catholic educators. It was a valuable time to reconnect with our mission and strengthen the sense of community we share with other Catholic schools in our Diocese.
National Science Week
Last week we also celebrated National Science Week. Students engaged in hands-on experiments, problem-solving challenges and exciting demonstrations - it was wonderful to see curiosity and creativity flourishing in our classrooms as students explored the wonder of science and its role in shaping our future.
Book Week
This week is Book Week, celebrating the theme, Book an Adventure!, and already the energy and enthusiasm around reading is contagious! Our students have been exploring the 2025 theme and celebrating the joy that books bring to our lives. At the time of writing, we are excited for our Book Week Parade, always a highlight of the school year. I can’t wait to see the creativity of students (and staff!) as they dress up as their favourite characters.
St Augustine’s Feast Day – Mass and Family Picnic
Next Thursday we will celebrate our College patron, St Augustine, with a special Feast Day Mass followed by a family picnic. This is always a treasured occasion for our community as we come together in prayer, celebration and fellowship. Families are warmly invited to join us on this special day - we look forward to sharing it with you.
School Production – Shrek the Musical JR.
Rehearsals are in full swing for our upcoming production of Shrek the Musical JR. The dedication and talent of our students, along with the tireless efforts of staff behind the scenes, promises an unforgettable show. Tickets are now on sale - please make sure you secure yours early, as this is always a popular event for our community.
ORIMA Survey – Parent Feedback
Finally, a reminder that the ORIMA parent survey will open next week. This is an excellent opportunity for families to provide constructive and positive feedback about our College. Your input helps us continue to grow and strengthen our school community. As a fun incentive, those who complete the survey and send us a photo of the confirmation page will go in the draw to win a prize (an Operoo will be sent out soon regarding this).
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our College. We are blessed to share in such a vibrant, faith-filled and thriving community.
Kind regards,
Tim Campbell
Principal
