TEETH TIME

On Friday, we had Anushma and Carmel from Health Ability come to visit us at Kinder today as part of the Little Chompers program. They told us all about how to look after our teeth by brushing them and eating the right kinds of foods. The children listened to a story about a little girl named Bella going to the Dentist. Bella had to wear sunglasses to protect her eye from the bright light and she wore a special bib to keep her clothes clean and dry. We talked about the special chair that goes up and down and the tools the dentist will use when they check your teeth.

Anushma and Carmel showed us how to brush our teeth with small movements inside, outside and the tops of our teeth. We learned that we must brush our teeth for 2 minutes twice a day and have to have a grown up help us until we are 8 years old. That was so we can make sure we are brushing them properly. The children also showed how much they understood about the foods that are everyday foods and those that are sometimes foods. Carmel held up pictures of different foods and drinks and the children had to decide whether it was for everyday or just for sometimes.

Some families opted to have our Dental Hygienists check their child’s teeth. The children had their teeth counted and checked by Anushma and she gave each family a report on their child’s dental health.
