What's been happening this week?

1/2 LEARNING
The Year 1/2 students have been busy learning about location and directional language. We played a back-to-back game with a partner and instructed our partner to place blocks in specific locations. This activity tested their listening skills and directional language. We had so much fun playing!
Positive Leadership and Activated Youth (PLAY)
This week, on Monday, 16 students participated in a program called PLAY. For the first 3 hours of the program, the students participated in a variety of new games that could be suitable for a wide range of ages. While they learning the game, they were also encouraged to consider how they could teach the game to younger students. Tips included- participating in the game with the students to provide positive role modelling, how to get the students to pay attention when necessary, providing a mix of games that involve elimination and full participation.
In the fourth hour, the leaders split into small groups to plan a well balanced session to implement for Year 1-2’s. Each student was responsible for leading one game whilst the other students supported them by assisting and joining in with the games.
The final session allowed the leaders to practice their new skills by teaching 1-2B and 1-2C what they had learnt. The students led with confidence and the 1-2 students were a fantastic audience! They all participated with enthusiasm and demonstrated great listening skills to learn some fun games.
Congratulations to our PLAY leaders on an amazing job:
