From the Principal's Desk

Week 5
Wow, we are already at week 5!
This week we are putting our final touches on our 3-6 ACOS item ready for the final performance at An Evening with ACOS next Thursday.
Students in years 3-6 will meet back at school at 5pm after having something to eat and a rest, where we will catch the bus to ASC at 5:30pm.
Parents and carers are reminded of the limited parking around ASC and I would suggest car pooling if possible.
Science Week
Mrs Dunham organised some wonderful activities with UNE Discovery, Year 6 students and teachers.
Students had a great time with so many fabulous activities from UNE Discovery including, BusyBots, Creative Chemistry, Science Meets Art and Think like a Rock and the Year 6 students ran - Cloud in a jar, Balancing Robots, Ozobot Crazy Path, Paddle Pop Catapults and Film Canister Rockets. It was a fabulous day enjoyed by all!
Spelling Bee Finalists
Congratulations to Flynn and Oliver who both represented MGPS at the Regional Spelling Bee on Friday. Both students were exceptional and we are very proud of you.
Both boys were given extremely tricky words that are exceptions to the rules! Oliver played through 4 rounds to play off for second. Well done to you both!
Assembly at 12:15pm this Week
Koalas and Magpies will perform their items in Week 5. Due to both classes presenting, we will start assembly at the earlier time of 12:15pm. Thank you for your ongoing patience.
Sporting News
Congratulations to Beau Matthew, who is in Dubbo this week playing touch football in the NSW PSSA Touch football State Championships. Play fair, play hard and have fun!
New PSSA date
The new date for the Athletics carnival will be Friday 22 August in Tamworth. For those catching the bus, the bus will leave Armidale City Public School at 7:30am. Students will meet Mrs Bull, Mrs Dunham and Mrs Deiderick under the MGPS gazebo to get your names marked off when you arrive and when you leave. The program will run the same however the times will run 30 minutes later than what was originally posted.
Tamworth High will now run a sausage sizzle and drinks at the carnival for those who would like to buy a sausage.
ACOS Tickets
If you haven't got your tickets, they are nearly sold out. All students in Stage 2 and 3 are performing in this event.
Enrolments for 2026
Don't forget to enrol siblings for next year. Enrolments for 2026 are open. We are finalising Out of Zone enrolments in the coming weeks. Please complete an online application or come into the office for a paper copy. Notification of successful Kindergarten placement offers will go out at the end of Term 3 for all in zone, out of zone and sibling applications.
All students in zone will receive an offer.
Excursion Fee
Contact will be made this week to families who have not made payment for the excursion fee to see how we can support you to do this.
PAX Word of the Week - HEALTH
Here some ideas for what to pack for a healthylunch box.
Being healthy means taking care of both your body and your mind! When you take care of your body and mind, you feel strong, happy, and ready to learn and have fun every day!
Have a lovely week!
