Junior School

Junior School News
Junior School continues to be filled with fantastic opportunities and events.
Our Year 7’s are currently enjoying their camp, with students in 7ABCD on camp from Monday 1 – Wednesday 3 September, 2025, and 7EFGH from Wednesday 3 – Friday 5 September, 2025. It is lovely to hear the buzz of excitement leading up to the event, and we are looking forward to a wonderful day on Wednesday 3rd with all students onsite together. Students will participate in a series of challenges, fostering collaboration, and building relationships. Student leaders will be supporting a Form Group Challenge as part of tomorrow’s events. The camp will include a huge array of activities including presentations from the Black Dog Institute and Edendale Farm.
Student Progress Interviews will occur on Tuesday September 9 from 11:00am until 7:00pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to check in with your child’s teachers to see how they are progressing. We encourage all students to attend their interview sessions, and all classes have been cancelled on this day so that students can attend. Bookings can now be made via Compass (bookings opened Thursday August 23).
Year 7 Round Robin will occur on Thursday September 11. We have had an incredible number of students sign up to a range of events in order represent Eltham High School. We are looking forward to hearing about their teamwork and achievements from the day.
Thursday September 11 is R U Okay Day, and students are invited to attend our whole school breakfast. This will commence at 8am in the 100’s courtyard area. Later in the day, students will participate Supporting Friendships Workshop.
To personalise our Student Planners, we held a competition for students to design the cover. We were looking for an engaging design which reflects our school culture and values. Nina Coulson’s design was chosen for the cover of the 2026 Year 7 Student Planner. Congratulations to all our entries on their creative designs.
Huge congratulations to Yas Ziada and the VCE-VM Work Related Skills team who have been collecting items for the Container Deposit Scheme, raising over $750 so far for the Enviro Team to tend to the school gardens.
We are now moving towards the end of term 3. Please continue to check in with your young person to help support them to stay on top of their work. Please have a look at Compass Learning Tasks to see what needs completion as well as task outlines and due dates. If you have any questions at all regarding work, please reach out to classroom teachers via their email.
A kind reminder to please communicate any challenges with attendance to the school. This can be achieved by entering this information through Compass and adding a ‘parent note’ to communicate to teachers and staff why your child is absent. This information is vital to help us to meet your young person at their point of need and offer additional supports when required. Additionally, please communicate any planned absences to your child’s coordinator. Note that planned extended absences need to be communicated and confirmed by Vincent Sicari, but this can be achieved via communications with your child’s coordinator.
Lots going on as always in the Junior School and the team would like to thank you all for your support.
