Year 5 Community News
Hello Everyone, and Welcome to Term 4!
We’re excited to begin the final term of the year with our fantastic 5/6 students.
Term 4 is a special time for our senior students as we prepare to celebrate the achievements of our Grade 6s and support them in their transition to secondary school. Graduation will be a highlight of the term, giving us an opportunity to reflect on their primary school journey and acknowledge their contributions to our school community.
For our Grade 5 students, this term also marks the beginning of their transition into student leadership roles for 2026. We’ll be encouraging them to reflect on their strengths, build their confidence, and explore the many ways they can contribute to our school community as leaders.
Our students continue to impress us with their enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to our school values of RESPECT, CARE, KINDNESS & PERSONAL BEST.
We also extend a warm welcome to the families who have joined our community this term. It’s always wonderful to see our classroom community grow.
We can’t wait for all the learning, growth, and memorable moments Term 4 will bring!
Curriculum News
English: This term, our 5/6 students will continue exploring the theme of Human Ingenuity & Environmental Impact through core English lessons. Using a variety of engaging texts, research projects, and creative writing opportunities, students will investigate how environments—both natural and human-made—shape the way people live. These rich learning experiences will build literacy skills while encouraging students to think deeply about the world around them.
Maths: In Term 4, our students will focus on consolidating their understanding of key areas, including Angles, Measurement, and Location. Through practical activities, real-life applications, and collaborative problem-solving, they will continue to strengthen their mathematical thinking and apply their knowledge with increasing independence.
Wellbeing: Our school values remain at the heart of everything we do: RESPECT, KINDNESS, CARE, and PERSONAL BEST. Alongside these, we foster our four learning dispositions: COMMITMENT, CURIOSITY, COURAGE, and COLLABORATION.
This term, our focus is on PERSONAL BEST. Families can show what it means to do their personal best at home by working hard, being kind, and never giving up when things get tricky. Parents and carers might model this by keeping calm during challenges, like fixing something that’s broken or solving a problem together. When family members show determination, patience, and a positive attitude, children can see what it looks like to try their hardest in everyday life.
Reminders
📌 Morning Routine: Please ensure your child arrives on time each day. Students should line up in roll order when the music plays, ready to enter the classroom when the bell rings.
📌 School Uniform: As the weather warms up, please ensure your child has a clearly labelled hat and uniform items suitable for Term 4.
📌 Lunchboxes & Water Bottles: Students should bring healthy snacks and lunches each day, along with a water bottle.
📌 Reading Folders: Students are expected to bring their reading folder every Tuesday. This continues to support their learning both at school and at home. Tuesday is also our Library Day!
📌 Upcoming Events: Keep an eye on Xuno for updates on important dates, celebrations, and end-of-year events.
📌 Footsteps Dancing: Next term, each year level will be participating in the Footsteps dance program on Fridays. Each cohort will learn two dances: one year level dance and one whole school dance. These will be performed at our end-of-year concert.
