Learning and Curriculum Primary - Stage 3

As we reach the halfway point of Term 3, it’s a great time to reflect on the energy, growth, and learning that have shaped our classrooms and playgrounds. From engaging lessons to co-curricular achievements, our students continue to demonstrate curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning.
The Power of Reading
One of the most impactful habits we continue to nurture in Stage 3 is reading. Whether it’s a novel or a news article, reading builds vocabulary, strengthens comprehension, and fosters empathy. It’s also a powerful tool for academic success across all learning areas.
We encourage families to support reading at home by:
Setting aside quiet time for reading each day
Discussing books and articles together
Visiting local libraries or exploring digital collections.
The Writing Revolution
Classes are continuing their work with Mrs Tatola and a buddy class once a cycle, with a sharp focus on how to enhance our writing. This term, we are linking our writing to the Stage 3 Geography units, with a focus on informative writing.
This fortnight’s focus has been ‘sentence level grammar’ with students learning to identify the key elements of simple, compound, and complex sentences. Students are making connections with previously taught content around subject/verb agreement and conjunctions in order to create grammatically correct sentences.
Book Week
Despite the rainy weather, Book Week was a vibrant success, held in the Powell Pavilion where the energy was anything but dampened! Our students arrived dressed to the nines, bringing beloved book characters to life with creativity and flair. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, thanks in no small part to the incredible support from our parent community. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Gibson for her outstanding organisation and dedication—your efforts made the day truly magical!
