Wellbeing - Middle School

Be Bold, Be Kind and Speak Up
Last week, our school proudly participated in the National Week of Action Against Bullying, a vital opportunity for our St Patrick’s College community to stand united in creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.
As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, pastoral care lessons last Friday were centred around the theme of building empathy — encouraging students to actively listen, consider different perspectives, and understand the power of their words and actions. These lessons, through scenario-based activities and the development of a homeroom framework, aimed to equip students not only with knowledge but also with the emotional intelligence to support one another.
A clear highlight was a powerful student-led address by Noah Young and Joshua Raheb during assembly, reflecting on this year’s national theme: "Be Bold, Be Kind and Speak Up." The address challenged our school community to take courageous action when witnessing bullying or exclusion — whether online or in person — and reminded us all of our responsibility to be allies, not bystanders.
This important initiative is deeply connected to our EREA Touchstone of Inclusivity, reminding us that every individual should feel valued, safe, and supported within our school community. By encouraging our students to take a stand, show empathy, and use their voices, we continue to nurture a culture that celebrates diversity and rejects discrimination in all its forms.
Together, we are fostering a generation of students here at the College that choose kindness, courage, and connection.

Year 5 Grandparents Day
On Friday 8 August, grandparents of the Year 5 students joined us. Perhaps some divine intervention meant that we managed to have the only morning of fine weather for two weeks. The boys were fantastic hosts as they accompanied their grandparents around the College.
The morning tea break provided a welcome respite and a delicious spread of treats. There was also time for some grandparents to find old friends who they did not realise also have grandsons at St Patrick’s College. Finally, there were classroom visits. It was lovely to see the bond between the boys and their grandparents, both proudly looking after each other.
Thank you to all grandparents for the pivotal role that you play in the lives of your grandsons.
