Co-Curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

What an amazing turn around in the weather. The Junior School winter season comes to an end and the sun comes out. This did bring a smile to the faces of all the boys involved in the Junior School Athletics Squad, though.

While many are enjoying a sleep-in on a Saturday morning, the boys in Athletics were up early competing in the South Harbor Athletics Carnival. The day started strongly for St Patrick’s College, with a number of ribbons won in the field events. The boys continued their winning ways as attention turned to the track, with a large number of boys placing in their 100m and 200m events. The boys look forward to a busy week with the BPSSA Carnival this Friday and the Newington Carnival on Saturday. It will be a challenge to back up two days in a row, however the passion and desire to represent the College will no doubt spur them on.

This week, boys are able to sign up to the knockout chess competition. Signup sheets are available outside my office. We usually have a large number for entries, so I look forward to another strong competition this year.

Last week, we started the Junior School training at lunchtime with Mr McCann. There was a modest turnout for the first session, and I am hoping that this number will grow. Boys that are serious about their sport and those that just want to improve their health and fitness will all benefit for participating in the lunchtime training. The Junior School has the opportunity every Tuesday at Lunch in the gym. So, bring your gear and hit the gym, all are welcome.
