Book Week
This week we celebrated Book Week 2025. All of the students and teachers were excited to celebrate the joy of reading! This year’s theme "Book an Adventure" invited students to dive into the magic of stories, explore new worlds, and celebrate the power of imagination.
Throughout the week, we have had a range of authors come and visit. Each author came with engaging presentations and anecdotes filled with interactive activities, Q&A's and advice for all our budding young authors.
Thank you to all the students and families who got involved, whether by dressing up as a favourite book character, joining in the library events, or simply spending some extra time enjoying a good book together at home. It was a fantastic celebration of stories, creativity, and community!
3 Wonderful Author Visits:
Gus Gordon
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2
On Thursday, Gus Gordon delighted our Early Stage and Stage 1 students with a visit full of creativity and fun. Gus shared his journey as both an author and illustrator, giving students a fascinating insight into the world behind his books. He showcased his impressive illustration skills and shared a large collection of his work, captivating the young audience.
Following his presentation, Gus worked directly with the students, guiding them in drawing their very own characters. The children were thrilled to participate, many waving excitedly and staring in awe at this talented author and illustrator. It was a truly memorable experience that sparked creativity and joy in all who took part.
Lian Tanner
Stage 2
On Tuesday, Stage 2 students had the exciting opportunity to meet acclaimed author Lian Tanner. Lian engaged the students in a lively workshop where they used acting and improvisation to improve a piece of their own writing. This hands-on approach helped the children bring their stories to life and think creatively about how to develop their ideas.
Lian also shared insights into her own work, introducing students to her unique style: “tales of the absurd.” Drawing on her love of horses, she sparked imaginations by discussing imaginative story ideas 'like writing about a horse in space!'. Her visit was both inspiring and fun, encouraging our young writers to dream big and explore the endless possibilities of storytelling.
Jeremy Lachlan
Stage 3
On Wednesday, Stage 3 students had the pleasure of welcoming author Jeremy Lachlan. Jeremy shared his personal journey as a writer, offering an inspirational and heart-warming story that resonated with many. He spoke candidly about the challenges he faced while writing his second book during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the importance of perseverance and passion.
During the Q&A sessions with Years 5 and 6, Jeremy also shared his love of cinema, video games, and storytelling, showing students how different forms of media can inspire creative writing. His visit left our Stage 3 students motivated to explore their own creativity and embrace the storytelling process.
