Middle School News

Upper Primary (Years 5-6)

Students have been enjoying learning about our Inquiry Topic - “Night & Day”. As a part of our topic, 3 classes went to Science Works Planetarium to consolidate their knowledge and understanding. Students watched a movie in the Planetarium called “Tilt”, focusing on the rotation of the earth, as well as focusing on the four seasons of the year and day & night.  Students enjoyed this experience and were able to put the school values of Safety, Responsibility & Respect into practice. The rest of the cohort will visit the Planetarium on the 3rd of September.

Lower Secondary (Years 7-8)

Travel Education

Last week a group of 7/8s went to Highpoint shopping centre for Travel Training. They practiced safety on public transport by using the bus. The students played arcade games at Time Zone and practiced ordering and paying for food in the food court. 

The children have been learning about different modes of transport, how to identify a bus interchange vs a train interchange and how to touch on and off using our MYKIs.

Maths 

In Maths the 7/8s have been learning about the time. Students are able to tell the time on the hour and half hour with confidence and are working towards telling the time to quarter past and quarter to.
