Book Week

Last week Uralla Central School participated in the annual Book Week celebrations. This year we decided to 'take it up a notch' and ran a Book Week Passport for the entire week. This activity involved 30 different staff members wearing a special item, and students locating them and getting their passport stamped. All students who completed their passport by finding ALL 30 staff members received a prize on Friday. This activity was enjoyed by all, including many staff members. It was fantastic to see students from K-12 participating and enjoying themselves.

During Book Week we also hosted our annual Book Fair. This is where students and parents can come over to the library and purchase books, trinkets, and posters. To add to our selection from Scholastic, Collins Books in Armidale also had a selection on display. We have had yet another bumper year with our Book Fair, with students seeming to really enjoy the variety (though we are hoping for an even bigger selection next year).

Our Book Week activities were complemented by our Wednesday Book Parade. On this day we saw all students from K-6 participate in the Book Parade with students from 7-12 invited. It was amazing to see the variety of costumes and a delight to have SO MANY from senior school choose to dress-up as well. It was a great day for all involved, including many staff members who also dressed up.

We hope to build on these inclusive activities even more next year, as we endeavour to capitalise on our unique school community, providing inspiration and promoting involvement of all students and staff from our fantastic K-12 Central School.
