Principal's Message

2025 School Theme - Why Team, Why Team Westbreen

Assistant Principal’s Message

 Dear Westbreen PS Families.

Week three was certainly an engaging week for our students. Whole School Science Incursion, Gr. 6 Girls MPower program, Gr. 5/6 Hoop Time, Auskick, Family Time and of course, our Foundation students celebrating 100 days of their primary schooling. Was a great week to be a member of Team Westbreen!!

Acting Principal Update

As a team, we certainly understand some uncertainties that we may all be sharing at the moment. Yesterday at our Staff Meeting and then again at last night’s School Council, we had our Senior Education Improvement Leader share the current process that the Department of Education is undertaking in the Acting Principal appointment. The Department hopes to inform the school next week regarding an appointment with the new Acting Principal beginning on the 25th August.

Over the coming days, we will share some further information with all families. Please be rest assured though that the Department of Education has Team Westbreen’s best interests at the forefront.

Our Foundation Students Turned 100!

Last Wednesday our Foundation students celebrated this wonderful milestone during assembly and throughout the day. Foundation classrooms participated in activities linked to this milestone and there was certainly plenty of confetti to be cleaned up at the end of the day!!

Curriculum Day – Friday 8th August

Last Friday (8th August), we had a Curriculum Day in which staff participated in professional learning.

Classroom and Specialist teachers spent the morning engaging in a curriculum focus on:

  • Victorian Teaching & Learning Model 2.0
  • Assessment (Formative/Summative)
  • DAL (Digital Assessment Library) Assessment Updates

Our Education Support Staff focussed on First Aid training (including CPR) and Asthma Management during the morning session.

After lunch, the focus for all staff was a Wellbeing Focus with:

  • a short presentation from Converge regarding wellbeing supports for staff
  • School Wide Positive Behaviour Support – staff contributed to the development of an Action Plan as part of our commitment to the program beginning this year.

Staff finished the day by providing feedback to each other on their recent peer observations with each other involving differentiation in their teaching programs.

Book Week

It is that time of year again when creativity and the wonderful world of books collide! Start thinking about and planning your book week costume for 2025. A whole school parade will be held on Friday 22nd August at 9:15am on our Basketball Courts. Families are most welcome to attend and join in the fun!

School Hall

The tender process for works on the school hall has closed. We wait to hear who has been given the tender with works to hopefully begin in September/October.

The work is estimated to last until the end of January, with the roof being replaced in stages.
