Principal Report

Congratulations to all students and staff for another amazing term at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College. Although only nine weeks in length, it was a very busy term. Our focus early in the term on careers and course counselling has allowed the beginning plans for 2026 to be well underway. Further to this, we had a wide range of opportunities for our students throughout the term, including some trips to the snow - the recent Year 11 Outdoor Education camp to Mt Buller and the Year 10 Outdoor Education excursion to Mt Baw Baw. The ski club owner at Mt Buller wrote to the college after the camp to congratulate the behaviour of our students and to say that we were their favourite school of the season. Well done to everyone involved.

Later this term, we had excellent attendance and engagement with Shrek the Musical. Congratulations to all current and past staff, current and past students, and parents/carers who were involved in the musical. Having attended the Friday night performance, I was thoroughly impressed with the end result and all of the hard work that went into delivering the show.

Behind the scenes, teaching staff have been collectively focusing on professional learning centered around our Koo Wee Rup Secondary Explicit Teaching Model (ETM). The professional learning has highlighted the expertise and passionate team of teachers we have at KWRSC, who have a strong aspiration to ensure that we provide a consistent evidence-based approach to lesson planning and delivery to all students at the college.

Late last week, we had our second parent-teacher conference of the year. Thank you for the engagement of our families in this event and for your support of the learning and growth opportunity that this provides your children.

Finally, we finished off the term with our Year 12 VCE cohort beginning their trial exam period. Their year has flown past, and they now begin the preparation work for their final exams. I wish them the best of luck with the preparations that will lead into the formal exam period early next term.

I hope that all families, students and staff enjoy the upcoming break, and I look forward to Term 4 beginning on Monday 6th October.
