Japanese Language Assistant Program – Nanase Matsuoka

Thanks to the Department of Education, we hosted a Japanese University student for 4 weeks in August. Nanase was here to improve her English language skills and share Japanese language and culture while experiencing Australian lifestyle and culture.
During her time at KWRSC, Nanase worked with individuals in the classroom, modelled correct language usage, delivered in-class cultural activities like calligraphy and tea ceremony, attended Japanese Club on Mondays and provided native-speaker expertise to Ms. Hast in the classroom.
During her home-stay with Ms. Hast she did LOTS of shopping, went to the city, Vic Market, Art Gallery, ACME, Mornington, Cranbourne Botanical Gardens, Arthur’s Seat and went out for dinner with friends. As she likes swimming they also went to PARC in Frankston a few times. Even though Nanase had Covid while she was here, she still managed to fit a lot in!
Special thanks to the teachers and students who made her feel so welcome and the students who arranged the Thank-you card on her final day.
Tonia Hast.
Language Co-ordinator.
