Year 5/6 News

Book Week
Book Week was a huge hit, with students and staff embracing the theme and celebrating their love of reading. The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated dress-up day, where everyone came to school dressed as their favourite book characters. Students took part in a variety of engaging literacy activities, including rotating through different classrooms to complete themed tasks and challenges.
Science
The Year 5/6 students have been busy exploring the wonders of our solar system by completing detailed fact files about the planets. They researched key information such as size, distance from the sun, and unique features of each planet. To bring their learning to life, the students also created imaginative and colourful dioramas, showcasing their chosen planets in creative 3D displays. This hands-on project allowed them to combine research skills with artistic expression, resulting in an engaging and informative exploration of space.
Interschool Athletics
On Tuesday, the 5/6 students travelled by bus to Vic Park, to represent our school in the inter-school athletics carnival. They competed in a range of events against students from neighbouring schools, demonstrating their athletic skills, sportsmanship, and school spirit. It was a fantastic day, and all participants should be proud of their efforts.
Parliament Victoria Visit
The Grade 5/6s recently enjoyed a visit from Mark and Megan from Parliament Victoria, teaching students about federal and state government. Students loved acting a variety of parliamentary roles to run a mock debate on passing a bill to allow children to ride e-scooters! A very informative and engaging session.
