Principal News

The 2025 Parent, Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey is now available to each family to complete online until Friday 19th of September 2025. It would really help us to have the opinions of as many families as possible about our school programs, wellbeing and all other matters related to your child's education. Feedback from the surveys is collated and many of our decisions with regards future funding, timetabling, special programs and wellbeing use this feedback as a guide.

This survey is optional but we would like as many families as possible to provide us with their feedback. The surveys are available in English and other languages, to allow for all of our families to participate.  A link to the survey portal and your unique PIN was sent to the primary family contact via Xuno on Monday August 18th. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Book Week  2025 & Poetry Walk

What a magical day we had last Friday celebrating Book Week. It was wonderful to see our students and staff dressed for the occasion, with many colourful and creative costumes. A huge thank you to the parents and carers for your efforts in making, purchasing and creating such an array of costumes.  It was also great to have the Friday Pre-School group join us for our assembly and parade. More photos are on the various grade level pages in this newsletter.

Following our assembly, our students and audience members were invited to take a stroll along the main corridor to enjoy and celebrate the poetry that all of our students have created over the past few weeks. The corridor had been transformed into a colourful rainbow of fabric with sparkling fairy lights to provide a backdrop to showcase our students' poems. A huge thank you to everyone who worked hard to make this event possible.

Playground Opening

The official opening of our new 3-6 Playground is this afternoon, commencing at 2.30pm. This will be followed by our regular whole school assembly. We warmly invite you to join us as we celebrate this wonderful addition to our school. It’s also an important opportunity to thank and acknowledge our generous sponsors, whose support made this playground possible.

Year 6 Graduation Ceremony Format

This week our Year Six families were provided with a letter outlining the changes that we are implementing with regards to our Year 6 Graduation. Below is an overview of the arrangement changes and reasons why we have made this change.

We’re excited to announce a change to this year’s Year 6 Graduation Ceremony. After thoughtful consideration, we have decided to hold the ceremony during the afternoon, as a whole school event, and combine this with our awards afternoon,  rather than in the evening for Year 6 students and their families only.

Our graduation ceremony and awards afternoon will be held on Wednesday 17th of December commencing at 2pm.

Here’s why we’ve made this shift:

  • Inclusive Community Celebration: By hosting the ceremony during the school day, we’re able to celebrate not just our Year 6 graduates, but also their contributions to the school. All students and staff will be part of this special occasion, creating a true community event.

  • Equity for All Families: We understand that evening events can present logistical and financial barriers for some families. A daytime celebration ensures that every student can take part without these concerns.

  • Focus on the Students: The ceremony will be centred on the achievements and memories of our Year 6 students, with their peers and teachers by their side, creating a more personal and joyful experience.

  • Staffing Considerations: Our dedicated staff already work beyond their regular hours, and an evening event would add significant extra workload, especially during a busy time of year. We want to make sure we’re supporting our staff while also delivering a meaningful event for the students.

This afternoon ceremony will still be filled with speeches, certificates, student reflections, and performances. Families will be warmly invited to join us in celebrating this major milestone in the lives of our Year 6 students.

Our Graduates will also be treated to a BIG DAY out, where they can enjoy a day with their teachers and each other celebrating the end of their primary years.

We believe this change will allow us to create a more inclusive, student-centred, and memorable celebration. More details will be shared soon!

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Final Day of Term 3

On the last day of this term, we are holding our annual Footy Colours Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favourite team's footy colours on this day. A reminder that on this day we have a special lunch (see the Office Matters page for more details) and school will be dismissed at 1.30pm.

School Council News

At our August Meeting, council approved a recommendation via our School Leadership Team to engage a company to work with us to create a new school website. We can not wait to launch this new, easy to navigate and informative site with you all. In the meantime, our existing website will continue to work as it usually does with our policies, information about our school and newsletter links available.

School Council also approved our end of term Footy Day Special Lunch; ordering information has been sent out via Xuno for families to complete.

An updated school Fundraising Policy was also presented, reviewed and subsequently endorsed by School Council. This is available on our school website.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday September 16th. This meeting will be held via Webex and will therefore commence at 7pm. Links will be sent out to councillors prior to the meeting. If you are an apology for this meeting, please let either myself or Lisa Lind know before Monday September 15th.

That is all for this week, Lisa Duffy.
