From The Team
It’s been a busy and exciting time in Foundation. Students enjoyed catching up with Bruce the Blue-Tongued Lizard in the Year 3/4 space, and seeing how much the baby chicks have grown since our last visit. We loved welcoming families for our Open Morning where parents joined us for hands-on maths games; the competition between parents and their children during our subitising game was very entertaining!
We also celebrated dads and special carers with a delicious Father’s Day Breakfast Club in the hall, and students had the opportunity to buy presents at the Father’s Day Stall. The Foundation and Year 1/2 students got creative making their very own seed houses, combining science and sustainability with hands-on learning.
Structured Literacy – Our New Approach
This term we implemented our new Literacy program, designed to align with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0. Our new approach encompasses six main elements to ensure our Foundation students are confident “reading rockstars”.
The 'Big 6’ of Reading
These six key components are:

Seed Houses
After reading and discussing one of the shortlisted Book Week books, Grow Big Little Seed, students enjoyed a craft activity where they created their own garden bed with seeds to bring the story to life. It has been very exciting watching them sprout!
