Tayba Dib

This term the VET program has been incredibly successful, students are working towards building their nominal hours to complete their certificates. 

Hospitality

This term in hospitality, our young people have been cooking up a storm, working hard at developing their industry-relevant hospitality skills! Cooking up a storm, our young people have made chicken sliders, stir fry beef, sweet pumpkin pie, and chicken wontons paired with a delightful apple slaw. Our hospitality students provided fantastic support for the school dance, preparing finger sandwiches and pigs in blankets.

Outdoor Recreation

This term in outdoor education, our adventures have continued. We have been canoeing down the Maribyrnong river. Our young people have just returned from an exciting camp at Mount Buller, enjoying the serenity up in the High Country. On camp students built an Igloo, snowboarded the slopes and went for lovely hikes through the snow. Ari has finished his Certificate II, and our other students are nearly there, inches away from the finish line. 

Salon Assistant

Hair Salon has been thriving this term, booking in clients and working on our customer service skills. Our students have been practicing their skills on mannequins, learning to wash, curl, straighten and style hair. Elliot is currently learning to curl hair with a curling rod, Mia is practicing straightening and Tanya is working on blow drying hair for volume. Maddie who is a new addition to Hair Salon, is working on learning to wash hair and other foundational skills. Additionally, all our students are working hard on their safety learning. 

Visual Arts

In visual arts this term, our students are working on developing and applying their drawing skills and expression. Our young people are learning to draw proportionally, as well as learning to draw in perspective using grids. Students have produced fantastic artworks, demonstrating both their rapidly developing abilities in drawing and impressive creative thinking. Additionally, we have been experimenting with exciting new techniques like tracing with charcoal. 

Music

This term in music, our students have been collaborating and learning to work together as an ensemble. Our young people are working hard to develop their skills in individual performance. Jay has made fantastic progress on the piano. Daniel is learning new songs on guitar and bass. Mia and Ava have been working with selected students to improve their singing.
