Although Term 3 was relatively short, we were jam-packed with an abundance of diverse and engaging learning activities across the 7-9 cohort. It was wonderful to witness the Year 7 and 8s partake in programs at school, such as the Bounce Program for PE, and collaborate in painting the KCHS clock tower mural.
There were also too many exciting excursions to keep track of – the Werribee Zoo, Sovereign Hill, Parliament House, and more! One of my favourite things about KCHS is pairing curriculum with hands-on learning experiences outside the classroom. In these instances, our young people can develop their travel knowledge, build upon their problem-solving skills, and be inspired by the wonderful learning opportunities across Victoria at large.
Inside school, we celebrated Book Week – our 3rd since its inception in 2023. We brought our teddy bears along to the picnic run by the year 12s, then put on our dancing shoes and let our hair down at the whole-school dance. In the final week, our musical performers rocked out in Green Room, while our Friday Games Club, run by Deb, has proven to be a huge success. All these activities have built towards our students further developing their social skills, and to form safe and trusted relationships with peers and staff.
In the classroom, Media lessons involved learning how to conduct interviews with staff members about their professional experiences. English Intervention continued their reading circles on topical issues, particularly the upcoming social media ban. Maths broadened horizons in Measurement and Geometry, while English got heated with Persuasive Texts. KCHS has also been well fed thanks to the mouth-watering meals made in Food Tech, while Science got experimental. All in all, the overall learning achievement across the 7-9s has been outstanding this term.

Activity Days: Monday 8th, Wednesday 10th & Thursday 11th, December (week 10)
Long Lunch: Monday, 15th December (week 11)
Clean up: Tuesday 16th - Friday 19th, December (week 11)
A special thanks to the junior school team, who really put in 110% this term to ensure our students were constantly set up for success.
