Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer
We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.
It is through their vision, determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.
We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Feast of the Assumption Mass - 10am
Friday 15th August is the Feast of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Assumption is a holy day of obligation in Australia. We will celebrate this special feast day with a whole school mass at 10am in the Marian Centre.
On August 15 the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the belief that the Blessed Virgin Mary, having completed her earthly life, was in body and soul “assumed” into heavenly glory.
The Gospel emphasises that Mary’s greatness comes from her participation in God’s plan. Mary responds to Elizabeth’s greeting with a splendid hymn of praise, the Magnificat, which Christians have sung at the Church’s Evening Prayer from earliest times.
Baptism - Bayden Newman
Good luck and congratulations to Bayden Newman who is being baptised at St Mary's this coming Sunday 17th August after 10am mass.
Altar Servers
Fr Adin has kindly offered to train new altar servers, boys and girls, from Grades 4-6 to serve during school masses. This will involve three 30 minute sessions with Fr Adin and a teacher during the school day. The start date is to be confirmed. Fr Adin and Fr Ronald will then be able to help these students during their first time serving during a school mass.
Students must have made their First Eucharist to take part in this very special training.
If any students are interested please complete the form attached. Forms will also be available in the office.
Sacramental Candidates attending Sunday Mass.
It was wonderful to see some of our Sacramental Candidates at Mass on Sunday. The students making their First Eucharist later this term are encouraged to attend mass during the sacramental program and to wear a white sash to show they are preparing for the sacrament of First Eucharist. This allows our parishioners to celebrate our students on this important journey and to also pray for them.

“Along the Track” article.
The latest edition of “Along the Track” entitled “God's Own Country” is attached to today’s newsletter.
How many times have you heard that expression? People from the north of Australia to the South and from East to West, describe their patch as “God’s own country”. And it is to them. Sadly, we don’t always treat it as such.
Kind regards,
Ann-Margaret Carroll
