In the Art Room
What a busy first week of term. We are celebrating the beginning of spring in the art room. Our F/1 students explored different ways of making marks with paint, rolling marbles through paint, dabbing and scrapping. These different papers will be used to create a collage of spring flowers in the coming weeks.
Year 2 started exploring the work of Georgia O’Keeffe. We started with observation drawings of flowers we found in the school gardens. Next Wednesday students are welcome to bring in flowers from home to start creating their project.
3/4 are being inspired by Australian Artist Tiffany Kingston. They completed 4 observation drawings of pot plants and will begin experimenting with colour next week. The quality of observations was amazing.
5/6 are inspired by the bold and bright work of Yayoi Kusama. They made observations this week on her work and started to sculpt using wire. Next week we will continue sculpting and use plaster bandages to form the base of our sculptures.
Do You Have Any?
Over the coming weeks we are in need of some of the following supplies. Do you have any of the following supplies at home that you no longer need?
- Old domino sets
- Magnetic calendars or large magnets that can be cut up
- Large plastic bowls (that can be used to shape mushroom tops)
- Large gumnuts, banksia cones or cool shaped seed pods
