Prep News

On Thursday the 24th of October, the Preps and grade 1/2s were visited by Caleb from Mad Science who shared some wild and exciting experiments!

We explored ideas relating to air, electricity and fire. He demonstrated how low air pressure from fast moving air in hair dryers and leaf blowers can push things away. Two brave volunteers, then used a bin to create air force to push a paper cup off their partner's head. We explored how electricity can sometimes be static using balloons and an electric charge generator. It was like magic, seeing hair standing up by itself and seeing a balloon stuck to the side of someone's head without anyone to hold it there! He showed us how we needed fuel, oxygen and a spark to build fire; we saw that if any of these three ingredients were missing, we could not create fire. Please do not try this at home! Lucky last, we were able to see how the pushing force of air can unravel a roll of toilet paper.

What an unforgettable experience! This incursion recieved many thumbs up from the students!
