Senior School

Year 5 Inquiry

This term, the Grade 5 students have been learning about Australia's System of Government. In our most recent lessons, they have been learning about the law-making process by studying how bills are proposed, debated, and passed in Parliament. We looked at Anthony Albanese's proposed bill to bring in a minimum age for children to be on social media. This brought about some really interesting discussions, with some students changing their stance on the issue after listening to others speak. We then turned one of the classrooms into the 'House of Representatives' and students enacted all the different parliamentary roles, contesting a bill about banning homework in all Australian households. This hands-on approach to learning has really aided the students' understanding of the process.

School Swimming

We begin our school swimming program at Carey Bulleen Sports Complex on Monday 18th November. This will run for one week, with a surf day to follow on Wednesday 11th December. This year, all students will attend in one group (split into two sessions once at the pool). The bus will depart ACPS at 10:45am and return at 1:45pm. We suggest packing an extra snack for your child that can be eaten at the pool.
