Ecolinc's Women in STEM Excursion

Our Year 9 students attended the 2024 ‘Emerging Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) for Women Program’ on Wednesday 16th October at RMIT, Melbourne.  The day consisted of a guest speaker, a range of workshop taster sessions and a ‘STEM Careers speed-dating’ session where the students got to meet, talk with, and learn from, a range of women in STEM fields, as well as a range of higher education providers who were able to outline career pathway opportunities available for students in the STEM fields. We were all well looked after and the day was topped off with a tour around RMIT by former Mount Ridley student, Harparneet Kaur. Overall, an enriching experience for the students and as an added bonus, some beautiful weather!

MRC SPORT

Our year 8 girls were outstanding through their regional tournament day. Winning each pool match by double digits, with all players contributing fantastically throughout the day. In the final we played, Melbourne Girls College. We started with a fantastic start of 10-0 throughout the game we maintained the lead, winning convincingly. They will now progress to the state finals in November. Our MVP of the day was Ieasha Calleri.

On the same day our year 8 boys participated in the tournament. The boys had a tough day without a win but had a close game to start against Mernda, only falling behind in the final minutes. Improvement was shown throughout the second game, mounting a late comeback against the eventual winners Preston. Our MVP of the day was Benedict Mariano.
