Visual Arts
This term, our young artists have been diving into the exciting world of printmaking. We’ve been using acrylic paint to explore important visual art elements, including negative space and implied texture. Negative space helps students see how the areas around and between objects are just as important as the objects themselves, adding depth and focus to their work. Implied texture allows them to create the look and feel of different surfaces, making their artwork come alive! We’re so proud of their creativity and can’t wait for you to see their unique prints.
While the senior students were away on camp, our junior artists embraced the vibrant traditions of Día de los Muertos. They explored the concept of symmetry and experimented with various mediums to craft artworks inspired by this beautiful celebration of life and remembrance. Each piece captures both the essence of the holiday and the students' own unique artistic interpretations.

Divisional Boys Volleyball Finals
What a huge effort. Probably just a couple of crucial points away from winning Divisional and going on to Regional. A huge effort beating much larger schools with a mix of grade 4, 5 and 6’s opposed to all grade 6’s at those larger schools.
The event was held at the Somerville Recreation Stadium on the 14th of October.
Team - Dylan Grieve, Jedd Norton, Guy Richards, Kooper Harden, Marley Seymour, Max Bruce
Played Dromana Primary - Won 2 sets to zero
Played Osborne Primary - Lost 2 sets to zero
Played Mt Eliza Primary - won 2 sets to 1
Bike Ed
It’s on again for grades 3-6.
This is an important element in the Bittern PE curriculum offered.
The progression in the program ranges from safety considerations and bike mechanics through to riding skills and finally on road utilising road rules and formation conventions.
Rugby
The Rugby Gala Day conducted by Melbourne Storm was a great day and an opportunity to participate in a sport not many have played. We do have a club now in the Frankston Dolphins located on our back door step at the Graham Myers Reserve. See me if you would like more details.

Auslan
Foundation
The Foundation students have just begun learning the signs for the alphabet. This will be a long process which will be taught through the use of signing games and other activities. These students will continue learning the alphabet until we reach testing week.
Grade One and Two
During Auslan sessions the Grade One and Two students have completed learning to sign the picture story book: The Very Cranky Bear. This was a fun process with many interesting questions asked. The students learnt that in Auslan we don't sign every single word that is said. We begin with the subject and stick to the main information.
Grade Three to Six
The Grade Three to Six students have recently been learning to sign about the seasons. They are now working on using descriptive signs for each season such as cold, hot, warm, lightning, thunder, temperature etc.

Performing Arts
Mrs Herbert
The greatest joy that a music teacher can have is to hear her students singing the songs we have learnt in class. Every day I hear a random song from our music program being hummed or sung whilst waiting in line for class, during play time or sometimes just as someone passes by. It is great and I love it!
One of those songs is "The Purple People Eater" and yes, there is dance steps.
Click on the link for a preview. You might like to try this with your children and create your own dance studio!
This term we have been focusing on songs from different cultures.
Taba Naba is a lovely song and the students can sing and perform these actions really well.
“Taba Naba” is a traditional song originating from the Eastern Islands in the Torres Strait. It is sung in the language of Meriam Mir and describes the everyday activity of going out to the reef to fish.
Translation: Come on let's go to the reef, Get into the dinghy when the morning tide is low, Let us row to the edge of the reef, Come on let's go to the reef.
