Literacy

Students in Year One and Two have spent the first three weeks of term studying the book "Stick Man" by Julia Donaldson. Students explored character creation and sequencing events in a story.

The Land of Lost Things.

We won!!! In a previous newsletter I shared student work based on the new Andy Griffiths novel. This work was sent to the State Library of Victoria for consideration to win one of 10 signed copies of the book. Last week we received a surprise in the mail! Students were  very excited. We have been enjoying reading this together during snack and lunch eating time!

Numeracy 

In maths, we have been consolidating our knowledge of addition and subtraction. We have explored location and direction, as well as introducing students to the concept of volume and capacity. 

Students practised using directional language to try to match the location of objects on their whiteboards. Words such as right, left, top bottom, below and above were used.
