From the Principal
Art Show Trail
Our Art Trial was a huge success. It was a perfect day for parents and students to follow the art trial. It was well attended both in the morning and afternoon session. The choir’s performance of the song True Colours was outstanding. Thank you to Mrs Richard, Ms Willis, Arts Captains and choir.
Remembrance Day
To mark Remembrance Day, students will pause at 11am on Monday 11th November and the school captains will lead students in a short ceremony schools with a minute's silence to remember those who have served in wars and peacekeeping operations, service and sacrifice. The SRC students have merchandise that they will be selling for the RSL. The final session when this will be sold is at lunch eating time tomorrow.
2025 School Year
If you have a child in Foundation to Year 5 who will not be returning to PPS next year, could you please inform the office or the class teacher via email ASAP. This will assist with planning for class structures and staffing for 2025.
Mini Beasts
The Grade 1 students participated in a mini beast incursion today. The bug hotel has been a huge hit between the Grade 1 portables. The children are certainly learning lots of facts about many different animals.
Grade 3 Camp
The Grade 3 children will venture off to Phillip Island on Monday 18th November for their first camp. They will participate in a range of activities including the giant swing, low ropes course, archery, camp cooking and Amaze N Things. Thank you to the staff and parents who will be attending the camp.
Bike Ed – Grade 4
Bike Ed for Grade 4 students begin on Friday 15th November. Bike Ed is a program designed to help build bike riding and road safety skills in school students. The children will participate in one session each week for the next 4 weeks rotating through various activities. This program could not run without parent volunteers, so thank you to the parents who have volunteered to assist Mr Anderson.
State Athletics
On Wednesday 6th November the students competed at the State finals at Albert Park Lake.
Congratulations and well done: U11 relay team Bo G, Audrey H, Mila B, Chloe Mc finished 5th in the state, Jacob triple jump 5th in the state, U11 relay team Hamish F, Jacob F, Jude W, Jordan B 1st in the state, Hamish – 100m 3rd in the state & 1st in the 200m.
Upcoming Events – save the date
We have had a few enquiries re events coming up. More information will come out closer to the date, however the starting times are below:
- Christmas concert – Thursday 5th December, starting time 5pm. Students arrive at 4:45pm
- Grade 6 Graduation Tuesday 17th Dec – Ceremony Start Time: 5pm. Students arrive: 4.45pm
Please Note: Due to capacity at Parkdale Secondary, ceremony attendance will be capped at 2 adult attendees per child, we are unable to cater for siblings.
Premier’s Christmas card competition
Get creative for the Premier’s Christmas card competition
Get your pencils, felt-tip pens and paint brushes ready. The Hon Jacinta Allan MP, Premier of Victoria, is looking for Christmas-inspired artwork to include in the Christmas card she will send to Victorians this year.
Children aged 12 and under can submit a drawing or painting that shows their Christmas experience. There is no criteria, so please get as creative as you like.
Entries are open until Friday 15 November 2024.
How to submit your entry
To submit an entry, you should send your artwork by either:
