Art News

We are really excited to dive into what is set to be an exciting and creative final term for the year. Students will be using a mixed range of resources to explore their imaginations, whilst developing their ever-important sense of self- belief. We are passionate about encouraging our students to take their own ideas, develop them through planning, exploration, and practice, in preparation for the big, wide world outside our wonderful community here at Delacombe Primary School.

Our students are currently exploring a range of topics whilst using water-colour paints. Our Grade Prep and 1 students are looking at Monet’s famous waterlilies series and creating their own adaptations, whilst our Grade 2 students, are using Vincent van Gogh’s, eye catching, “Sunflower” series, to create their own vibrant artworks.

Our Grade 3 and 4 students are focussing on process-based artwork and learning about positive and negative space through the creation of their own self-portraits.

Mother Nature has inspired the focus of our Grade 5 and 6 students, who are creating their own natural disasters, which are providing the basis for rich conversation and some peer guidance through the turn and talk element in the lessons.

Along with our talented students, we are really excited about the next stage of the artwork, which we look forward to sharing with you in later editions of the newsletter!

Take care,

Mrs S and Miss Peldys.
