Year 10
This week the secondary community has been abuzz with a palpable sense of excitement. A memorable aspect of being a member of a school in its infancy is that you give witness to a school’s ‘firsts’.
For much of this semester, Mrs Knight and many other staff have worked tirelessly to bring the College’s first secondary production together. Hansel and Gretel: Sweet Success promises to be a 2025 highlight and I know that our community is excited about watching our budding thespians and performers on Thursday and Friday. Experiences such as these provide students and staff with wonderful opportunities which no doubt cultivate our students’ resilience.
Thank you to all members of our community who have supported this production and specifically Mrs Knight for her dedicated leadership.
Next week Year 10 students will sit their examinations. A reminder that students are not required to attend from 10:30am each day. Those students who choose to remain at school to study will be required to sign in when they arrive at their study venue. Students who have not completed assessments are expected to attend school after their Religion exam on Friday November 15. Some teachers may communicate more specific requests to relevant students.
Next year the College will enrol twelve Year 11 students in seven different ViSN courses. This platform will provide students with 21st Century learning opportunities which will hold them in good stead as they eventually transition into their tertiary pathways. We are excited that Mrs Galbraith has been appointed as the students’ ViSN Mentor. Mrs Galbraith will work closely with students in order to enhance their ViSN transition.
When our next newsletter is published, Year 10 students will be finishing their first week of work experience. The College looks forward to hearing about our students’ workplace efforts. A lot of work has gone into preparing for this process; thank you to our Year 10 families for your support. I would like to specifically thank Mrs Davey, who has worked tirelessly to initiate this program. As a College, we are also indebted to the many local businesses who have so generously supported our students. I am sure that our students will represent themselves, their families and the College with pride throughout their placement, and that they will go out of their way to show gratitude to host employers.
Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase; just take the first step.
