We are learning to use a formula to find the area of a rectangle.

VOCABULARY

Area: The amount of space inside a shape, measured in square units.

Rectangle: A four-sided shape (quadrilateral) with opposite sides that are equal and all angles that are right angles (90 degrees).

Length: The longer side of a rectangle.

Width: The shorter side of a rectangle.

Draw some different rectangles and record its length and width. Use the formula below to calculate the area of each rectangle. 

Area of a rectangle = Length x Width
