VOCABULARY

Parody: Comedic commentary which copies the original work

Satire: the use of humour, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

• Identify satire and parodies within texts.
• Explain the characteristics and purposes of literary devices to engage the reader.
• Analyse and critique the literary devices effectiveness; do they persuade or engage the reader, how so? Was it effective?
