Foundation News
We have had such a great start to Term 4 everyone.
The students have jumped right back into routine and learning.
They have been so settled and confident with all aspects of school.
Term 4 and Term 1 seem so far apart when you watch the ease of organisation in the morning for each class, the ability to work independently and the ability to interact so positively with peers and teachers in the area.
We are continuing to learn about narratives this Term in our writing - our students are still talking about the stories they wrote and published with the help of their buddies last Term.
We have also picked up right where we left off in reading - challenging our students to read with increasing fluency, recognition of high frequency words and to continue sounding out unfamiliar words.
In Maths we will look at place value for the next two weeks - working on students' understanding of ones and tens (and higher) and the ability to partition them and also reverse them to make higher and lower numbers.
I.e. 14 is 10 and 4 or it could be 41 which is 40 and 1.
In our unit for religion, ‘Called to Live Like Jesus’, we are really focussing on the message of kindness and this is shared and acted out in our school and lives.
Last week's Bernie Trophy winners were Foundation Carnovale!
Next week the Foundation students will be going to swimming lessons each day at ‘Moore Than Swimming’ complex in Wangaratta - information for this has been emailed home. If you have any questions about this PLEASE email or speak with your child’s teacher.
Also, can you PLEASE ensure that ALL clothing and swim gear is clearly labelled, as children will be changing at school before and after their swimming lessons.
The only extra things they will need to bring are;
Thongs/slide on shoes to wear to the pool, a towel, googles (if preferred), bathers and a separate bag to place their wet items into after swimming.
Thanks in advance for your help with this,
The Foundation Team.
