Principal's Report

We begin this week’s newsletter with some exciting news from our wider Church family.
On Wednesday evening, Pope Leo announced the appointment of the Most Reverend Shane Mackinlay as the new Archbishop of Brisbane. Bishop Shane will be stepping into this important role following the retirement of Archbishop Mark Coleridge, who has faithfully served as Archbishop for 13 years and has been a priest for 51 years.
Many in our school and parish community have come to know Bishop Shane fondly. Only recently, he joined us to celebrate the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist with our students, a moment we will treasure. Over the past six years as Bishop of Sandhurst, he has led with warmth, calm wisdom, and genuine care.
We offer our heartfelt congratulations to Bishop Shane and keep him in our prayers as he begins this new chapter of leadership in the Church.
Knowledge society
Tuesday all staff attended a professional development day as part of the CESL Magnify project with four other schools to focus on the Behaviour curriculum and most significantly routines around starting lessons, lining up and concluding lessons. We came away feeling greatly affirmed about what we do at Holy Rosary and some tweaks to our structures will only add to the consistency of practice across the school. As we all understand learning is as successful as the culture, expectations, routines and rules taught to and reinforced with students.
Through the Classroom Mastery approaches staff have the knowledge, skills and strategies they need to create classroom behaviours and a school culture that foster positive learning environments for all. Creating calm and ordered classrooms across the whole school to guarantee that learning happens will reduce disruption through good relationships and explicit expectations, rules and routines.
Road safety
A repeat note that it is unsafe to call across the road for children to cross. Please use the school crossing we fought so hard to have in place.
Enrolment
2026 enrolment offers have been sent out and we look forward to beginning the transition and interview phase in term 3 & 4. Information forms have been sent out this week, please complete these as soon as possible prior to the end on the term.
Some families have indicated they are leaving Holy Rosary for another primary school. Please let Paul know if this may be the case. It is extremely helpful in planning for next year and beyond and we can often support transition to another school environment.
Reports
Our student reports for semester 1 are currently being developed and will be released at the end of term through your PAM account. Please take time to have a read and celebrate your children’s learning and achievement.
Trivia Night
This Saturday night we have our trivia night for parents and friends in the Rosarium (Change of Venue). We look forward to a night of fun and entertainment. There are still tickets available from the office. Get together a table or just come along there’s plenty on offer. Raffle tickets available for some great prizes.
Huntly Bus
We will be again calling for term 3 registrations on the Huntly Bus and pre-payment of accounts as per the usual routine. With increased demand we ask that all who seek a seat on the bus for their children register before the end of term, unfortunately there will be no exceptions.
NAIDOC week
As an opportunity to share our learning and space with parents and friends we will be inviting parents to come along during the last week of term (Wednesday 2nd July). Throughout the day we will be participating in NAIDOC week activities and look forward to sharing our learning from 2.45-3.15pm on the oval space. More information will be shared next week.
