Science Week

Week 4 was National Science Week in schools all over the country!
At Truganina College, we have been celebrating with our middle school students throughout the week with our “Science Stories” competition. Students were tasked to write a short story, film a newsreel-style video or create a comic strip telling a story within the theme of “Future Earth”.
A special shoutout goes to our Year 7 students who have submitted some great work. We have had lots of fantastic entries so far, so choosing a winner will be very difficult! Stile, an education app, also ran a colouring competition that our students got involved with. Some of our Year 9 Camp non-attendees have done an excellent job at giving their style spin on an “off-world colony”.
The Year 8 team celebrated Science Week with a scavenger hunt lesson! Students worked in teams to capture the clues hidden around the school and work out the mystery based off a page of helpful hints.
Our Year 9 students got into the Science Week swing with a space-themed escape room: ‘Destination Moon’ - we love some friendly competition in the Year 9 space and any opportunity to collaborate with peers! Only a handful of students made the moon landing but all gave their best efforts.
